Santorum 2012, Really?

Up until two days ago I was pulling for Rick Santorum to take the republican nomination!  I am a Christian and I want to see Christian values and morals restored in America.  Rick Santorum says he does too.   But then it happened,  I saw this video and lost my ‘faith’ in Santorum.  I have embedded the video below for you to see for yourself America.

Say what?  Excuse me?  Did he say he wants to get in my bedroom?  He wants to dictate what I can do with who and when?  He really thinks government can dictate morals?  Let me address this next part directly to Mr. Santorum.

Dear Mr. Santorum

I am shocked that you have some how forgotten two of the most basic tenants of America, religion and the US Constitutions recognition of its citizens rights to pursue happiness.  We are promised the preservation of those gifts from God  of “Faith” and “Free Will”.That they would not be trampled by man.  But we as individuals in fact would be allowed to find our own way to love God of our own faith and free will.

I suggest to you sir that you are in the wrong country, perhaps on the wrong continent even.  And think about this I’m begging you sir, God in his infinite wisdom knew that even he, being all-powerful could not dictate morals on a free thinking being, created in his image,  and get true love in return by actually demanding that man love and respect him.  He knew he would get quite the opposite reaction I am sure.  More like divisiveness and a brooding malevolence that would one day turn on him. You think it did not already happen once?  Think again, after all Satan pre-dates Adam and Eve.

The only way to teach morals, as well as virtue sir is through example.  You cannot profess to be one way and behave another.  We are all human, and we are all critically flawed.  Morals and virtue are learned behaviors.   Those are the foundations of  our Constitution.  But, you cannot just tell someone this is moral behavior and  that over there is not and through some mechanism of enforcement and or punishment expect it to work as prescribed.

Such an arrogant assumption could be compared to the government saying pot is illegal, you cannot posses it or smoke it.  Hey, we all see how well that little war is working out, now don’t we?  It’s that critical flaw thing , that pesky God Given, human, free will thingy raring up again.  An institution of government cannot simply impose its morals on a free people and have them remain “free people” with free will.

‘Free Will’, an unalienable right given to us, again, by God. It is why Christianity is called a “Faith”.  If we are forced to disclose our most private behaviors to anyone BUT God, dare I say that we have become a corrupted religion no less oppressive than that of Islam and its totalitarian “Sharia Law”.  Islam is not a religion based on Faith but on “Fear”.   Christ asked that we come to God of our own free will.  Not because some theocracy says we have to.

I agree we need to stop the war on Faith and Christianity. But we cannot do so by imposing  it as a Crusade.  Not even to save our own US Constitution.  The Crusades were no worse an event in time than the Islāmic world domination taking place today in the Middle East and parts of Europe as well as many places now in America.  Crusades and Caliphates are not about Faith, they are about vanity, domination and power, those are not the characteristics of a faithful reverent people..

So I suggest to you sir that God already has tried your “Nanny State” approach and now we all have hell to pay.
